- A>I recently bought a USR Sportster Vi 28.8 with Plug and Play (model No. 282).
-
- A>And, as some of you can identify with, I've been having some problems. First,
- A>let me
- A>say that it performs excellently in Netscape when I have autoload images
- A>turned off. In
- A>other words, it "screams" when just plain text is involved. It's another
- A>story when I
- A>try to access a page with pictures/graphics on it. It doesn't even display
- A>anything.
-
- This happens occasionally with Netscape. Hit the stop button. You may
- then get the image.
-
- Also, when I try to transfer a compressed file (by FTP
- or through the WEB), A>it A>goes (at an alarmingly slow rate) for about
- five seconds and then it totally A>stops. This is probably your server.
-
- A>If you can identify with this or have some technical insight, please E-mail
- A>to:
-
- Sounds to me like you have a problem with your ISP NOT the modem.
- Internet connects are not the same as dialing up your local bbs. There
- are too my variables. You are in essence "hopping from computer to
- computer." You will get slowdows and stops. All modems will. You are at
- the mercy of each site.
